Soft upholstery, deep sofas, tactile materials and muted colours: we can sit back and relax once again. No, not just relax... lounge. After years of angular, rigid seating that invited you to sit for a short while only, the current trend for comfort must not be overlooked. Upholstery can be crumpled, cushions are highly desired, colours are muted and floral carpets are back.
Hotels took a pioneering role
As with many interior design trends, the most prestigious hotels also took on a pioneering role when it came to “lounging”: with the re-opening of ultra-comfortable foyer areas and stylish bars. The trend for well-being, listening to our bodies and taking things down a gear now and again, also played its part. Lounging is a lifestyle that makes us want to stay in. The designer Antonio Citterio describes his most popular lounging sofa as “feel good”. He designed the Axor Citterio and Axor Citterio M bathroom collections for Hansgrohe.
Lounging in the bathroom
Of course, we do not use bathrooms like hotel foyers or bars, but we still like to spend a while in them. A comfortable seat next to the bath tub or wash basin, carefully selected materials and a homely atmosphere turn bathrooms into our relaxation zones, or in other words, places for lounging.
