Schiltach, September 2009. Through Axor Urquiola, Patricia Urquiola is bringing a new sensuality into the bathroom environment. For in the spatial concept of Axor Urquiola, which she has developed in collaboration with Axor, the Hansgrohe AG designer brand, the Spanish designer is taking an entirely new approach to examining the tension that exists between intimacy and encounter, so that the bathroom not only conveys a feeling of wellbeing and security but becomes a living space of almost poetic character. She causes bedroom and bathroom to merge in an inspired interplay of sleeping, bodily hygiene, relaxation and regeneration. And in doing so, she makes use of a free-standing multi-functional room partition: the innovative Axor Urquiola paravent heater playfully unites the functions of a visual screen and mirror with that of a radiator. The paravent assumes a key role within this spatial concept because, as a modern interpretation of the classic room divider, it creates boundaries while still leaving connections open. An ambience is thus created that allows intimacy and protection without separating the areas from one another completely. Functioning as a free-standing radiator, the Axor Urquiola paravent additionally provides a cosy warmth thanks to its sophisticated technology and underfloor connections to the supply circuit. An inspired symbiosis of form and function, it allows us to create our own individual design for our own private space of retreat and wellbeing.
Wonderfully diverse: as a modular system, the Axor Urquiola radiator can be individually designed.
