The reduction in employee numbers mainly affected the production location in North America, where the company was forced to reduce the size of the workforce in response to the economic crisis and the decline in orders.

In contrast, the number of employees in Germany remained virtually constant at the end of the year, at 2,061 (2007: 2,082). This also applies to the number of employees in accordance with the parameters of §§ 1 and 3 of the Codetermination Act, which in 2008 stood at 1,969 employees (2007: 1,985).

Outside Germany, the number of employees on December 31, 2008 was 1,091 (2007: 1,171).

The average size of the workforce Hansgrohe Group for fiscal 2008 was 3,223 (2007: 3,180). Of these, 64 percent were employed by the fittings and shower specialist in Germany.

As in previous years, the company’s workers’ participation scheme in place at the German locations allowed employees to benefit from the growth in revenues again in 2008 through a special bonus payment of € 1.14 million in total.

With the 38 young women and men who will be starting their vocational training with the bathroom fittings and shower specialist based in the Black Forest in September, the training quota at Hansgrohe AG will amount to 7.4 percent, significantly higher than the Germany-wide 5.5 percent average in the metal working industry.
